Teaching 1: Classroom Management Expressions

1.  앉아요
Sit.
ahn-jah-yoh

Another, more polite, way to say this is:
앉으세요
Please sit. 
ahn-juh-say-yoh

Break it down:
앉다:  to sit
요:  polite ending
으세요:  polite verb ending meaning "please do"



2.  조용히
Quiet
choh-yohng-ee



3. 한 줄 만들어 주세요.
Please make one line.
han  jool  mahn-duh-roh  joo-say-yoh

Break it down:
한:  one
줄:  line
만들다:  to make
주세요:  please



4. 빨리 해 주세요.
Please hurry.
bah-lee  hay  joo-say-yoh

In place of 해 주세요 you can say 하세요:
빨리 하세요

Break it down:
빨리:  quickly
하다:  to do
주세요:  please



5. 다시 해 주세요.
Please do it again.
tah-shee  hay  joo-say-yoh

Break it down:
다시:  again
하다:  to do
주세요:  please



6. 뭐예요?
What is this?
bwoh-ay-yoh?

If the kids are doing something you find inappropriate to the situation, say 뭐예요? in a really whiny voice as if you can't believe what's taking place in front of your eyes.  The kids almost always straighten up after that.

 

7.  영어로 주세요.
In English please.
yohn-goh-roh  joo-say-yo

Break it down:
영어:  English
-로:  particle that means "in," "by," or "through



8.  치지 마세요.
Don't hit.
chee-jee  mah-say-yoh

Break it down:
치다:  to hit
-지 마세요:  please don't do



9.  기다리 주세요.
Please wait.
kee-dah-ree  joo-say-yoh

Break it down:
기다리다:  to wait



10. 들어와요.
Come in./Get in.
duh-roh-wah-yo

Break it down:
들어오다:  to enter
